Charon the Fderryman
All hell broke loose.
MILTON, Paradise Lost

In Greek mythology, Charon was the ferryman of Hades. He was the son of Erebus and Nyx, and twin brother of Thanatos (Death). Charon took the newly dead from one side of the river Acheron (not Styx, as sometimes stated) to the other if they had an obolus to pay for the ride.
